Just had a bad experience at Safeway renting a Rug Doctor.

The lady at the counter "Samantha" was very stern when I

rented it yesterday saying that if I was even a minute

over 24 hours she would charge me for another day.

Ok. I made a mental note.

Then she said I had to clean it before I return it. She

didn't go into too much detail.

When I returned it, "Samantha" said that there were hairs

on some filter I didn't know about. These Rug Doctors

were difficult enough for me to figure out.

And there was about 3 tablespoons of water on the waste

tank that I couldn't pour out because of the lack of a

spout. No matter how you turn the tank you can't get the

last bit of water out. I think you would have to take

a towel and get your hand in there somehow to get every

drop out.

Samantha then declared the Rug Doctor dirty and was going

to charge me $27.05 for a "cleaning fee". I have rented

these machine many times before and was never charged a


I complained but Samantha was a stone. So I started to

take a picture of the water left in the machine. And

Samantha yelled out "NO PICTURE TAKING IN SAFEWAY".

She refused to give me her name even though I finally

noticed she had a name tag on. I asked Samantha for a

supervisor and asked for her name.

I talked to a Danielle. Another Safeway employee that doesn't

know how to smile. She looks like and has the demenor of

the actress Rebecca De Mornay in the movie THE HAND THAT

ROCKS THE CRADLE except she has black hair.

The manager Danielle said she was was powerless to help because

I am a customer of Rug Doctor and that Safeway has nothing

to do with the rental. And that Safeway doesn't make any

money from them anyway, so I would have to take up my

complaint with Rug Doctor.

Then before I gave permission another man Jose(?) took the

machine before I could take the pictures I wanted to take.

Well I've been a customer of Safeway for 50 years. More

actually. This Safeway had a bad manager about 5 years ago

but he quickly disappeared. I've never seen Danielle so I

think she is new. So I suspect this new rapaciousness and

severe demenor of Safeway is likely due to her.
