Three's a crowd and then there's Safeway
I have shopped regularly at Argonaut Safeway in Saratoga CA for ages. Until recently, they have had a reasonable number of checkout clerks during normal hours.
But in the last several months, I and 30 or 40 of my neighbors get to stand in line while only 2 clerks are around to man the checkout booths. Lucky still has the "three's a crowd" policy but at Safeway they don't seem to care if you spend 30 minutes in the checkout line. Today may be the last straw.
There is no manager on site and the clerks don't have any answers. I hate to get mad at them, they don't make the schedules but the site manager should know that you need more than 2 clerks at 6:30 at night
Monetary Loss: $25.
Location: Cupertino, California

Good on you for not going off on the employees. They hate the lines as much as you do, and if it were up to them, they would have a person in every checkstand.
Send your complaint to corporate if you want to see real change.
Write out a letter and mail it to them, or fill out a customer comment card. Dumping it here won't get anything done.
I think they do a poor job of getting people checked out quickly. We have to unload our own basket so all they have to do is scan.
Our safeway almost never has more than 2 or 3 checkers open.
I think they are trying to force customers to use the self
Check method so they can reduce their staff and make more money by having the customers do their job. Greed.
I have also noticed the employees lack of customer care. I often have to ask them to call additional cashier which they usually do after I ask.
I really think the union employees get so secure in their union protected jobs they don't care about the customers. If I owned a business that treated customers like that I would be out of business quickly.
Are you actually saying that you and 30-40 of your neighbors all go shopping together? Actually most people don't even have that many neighbors.
