After weekly shopping my wife discovered she had bought spicy versions of chips we cannot eat. She returned to the Sherwood, Oregon store 20 minutes after checking out and paying for groceries to exchange the three bags of spicy chips for unflavored bags of the same item and was told "no refunds or exchanges." We've been shopping there for 30 years with no previous problems and this NEW policy is not posted or made public anywhere in the store.
They blamed it on Covid 19 - a new policy the customers know nothing about. The product was twenty minutes old - never opened, and still in the bag SAFEWAY put it in at the checkstand. If the store employees touch it to bag it the customer is safe?
But if the customer carries the bag out then brings it right back - it's diseased!! Good Grief - just another scam to keep from dealing with returns.
User's recommendation: Don't shop here.
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.
